Low thyroid function??

levothyroxine

Hi, i wonder if anyone could give me some advice. My close friend has been on thyroxine for a few years as she has a underactive thyroid. The dose has varied in years she has been taking it but recently she has been to the doctors as she has been feeling very run down. The doctor has done some tests and said that everything is normal except for her levels are low so he has increased her thyroxine to 200mg. The doctor has told her that she has a very problematic thyroid and if no improvement is seen within 4 weeks she will be admitted and futher tests done. He has indictated that they would be looking for tumours and growths in her throat/neck region, which has terrified her and she is now scared of what they could find. She has been told that no one has ever been higher that 250mg of throxine. Is there any other medication she could be given to help her thryoids? She has had an ultrasound of her thyroids done a few years ago and the sonographer said he could see some shadowing.....
round that area but nothing was ever followed up so we all thought it was nothing to be concerned about. Should she go back to her doctor and mention this or would this be on her files? Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

allergy pills

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lowthyroxinelevel.blogspot.com/2009/04/thyroxine-low-thyroid-function.html' title='
Thyroxine? My last few blood tests have been showing that my thyroxine levels are low and I am wondering could the painkillers be affecting the thyroxine ? I did ask my GP but I was met with a blank look and was told that they would just keep doing blood tests and monitor it that way.
Thank you in advance for any answers.
I do have general fatigue, but that is due to having low thyroxine levels. I had radioiodine treatment in May this year & my neutrophil count went up to within the normal range at last. However, my last blood test showed that I now have hypothyroidism instead ( I have now been prescribed Thyroxine) & my neutrophil level has dropped again. The haematologist stopped seeing me in June but wrote to me with the results of the granulocyte immunology to say that the test was positive & the most likely cause of my neutropenia is autoimmune. What is the likely meaning of this? Could it have anything to do with the fact that a few years before I was born, my father (who was in the RAF) was stationed on Christmas Island?
